Olives and olive oil

Olives cover nearly half of Palestine’s cultivated land. Every autumn the families press oil at the village mill, store it in plastic jerrycans, and pour it generously over everything: bread and za’atar at breakfast, over musakhan, over labneh.

A grove is planted for grandchildren. That is what the trees mean.
