Bethlehem olive-wood carving

Bethlehem’s workshops carve rosaries, nativity scenes, and boxes from wood pruned from local olive groves. The trade has been fed by pilgrims for centuries, and the grain of the wood does the decorating.

Nothing is cut down for the craft. The trees give what pruning gives.
