Gaza City

Its Arabic name, ‘Azza, is often glossed “the strong”. One of the world’s oldest cities, a station on the road between Egypt and the Levant, with the Great Omari Mosque and the fifth-century Church of Saint Porphyrius within streets of each other.

It was a city of seafood tables, markets, and the sea at the end of every street.
